What software is compatible with the DVD Tutorials?
Adobe Photoshop versions 7, CS and up are all compatible with the DVD tutorials.
Are the tutorials compatible with MAC systems?
Yes. The DVD tutorials have been authored in Apple QuickTime. They are compatible with Windows and MAC. Each DVD has a personalized media access key that prevents unathorized copying. The media key must be installed to watch the DVD tutorials.

What is on the DVD Tutorials?
Each DVD tutorial contains several QuickTime movies along with the original photo. Custom Photoshop brushes are also included along with instructions on installing within Photoshop.
Can anyone learn this technique?
Many students with only a basic knowledge of Photoshop have mastered the technique with practice. The amount of time learning the technique varies from student to student.
Can I watch the DVDs on my home entertainment device?
NO. The DVDs are only viewable on home computers with Apple QuickTime installed. Apple QuickTime player is a free download. Click here to download the latest version.
Do I need a WACOM tablet to accomplish this effect?
A tablet isn't necessary however, it makes the process much easier. I personally use both a mouse and tablet to accomplish my work. I suggest the 6x8 tablet.
How long will it take to do one painting?
Time varies depending on the complexity of the original photograph and how detailed you want the artwork to be. It takes anywhere from 30 minutes for a quick rendering to several hours for a more detailed, high-end piece of art.
How much do the finished art pieces sell for?
Prices depend on the size of the artwork, how it is printed, mounted, and framed. Prices range from $200 to $2,000 or more. How you successfully market your work determines your price.
What Photoshop plugins or actions are used?
There are no actions, plugins, or filters used to accomplish the initial effect. Third-party plugins and actions can not simulate oils or pastels very well. That's why I don't use them. This technique actually paints over every pixel in the photograph.
What is the difference bewteen the Virtual Oil, Virtual Pastel and Virtual Watercolor DVDs?
The Virtual Oil DVD is geared towards accomplishing a smooth, oil painting effect suitable for printing on stretched canvas. The Virtual Pastel DVD is geared toward accomplishing a rough textured pastel chalk effect while the Virtual Watercolor technique gives drippy, watercolor effects on textured paper. The DVDs work best when purchased together as a set.
